Our final stop was in Chicago one of the most prominent architecture cities in our country. There is such a wide array of styles by many different architects. We arrived in Chicago late on the thirteenth day of our trip. The hotel we checked into was constructed in 1893 for the visitors of the World Columbian Exposition. Although after reading the reviews upon check-in we found out that it is the most haunted place in Chicago!
After checking into our haunted hotel our first stop was a Chicago style deep dish pizza. Once we filled up on some pizza we were ready to take on Chicago. The night life in Chicago was beautiful. We made stops to the Carson Pirie Scott building, Marina City, Tribune Tower, and Aqua Tower.
We made day and night stops at Millennium Park to see the Cloud Gate (the bean), and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. The park was a nice quaint place to go and break away from the city. Both times visiting the pavilion there was performances going on adding to the liveliness of the city.
Sadly our day in Chicago was spent walking through the pouring down rain and the thunder but we were determined to see all that we could see before the trip ended. We visited Willis tower which up until about a year ago was the tallest building in the United States. If you look way at the top of the picture you can see the sky deck which is a glass box that you can step out into and look out over the city.
Next stops were the Rookery Building by Frank Lloyd Wright and, The Monadnock building by Burnham and Root.
Chicago had a lot to offer in so little time.
