SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
The ride from Santa Barbara to Seattle was a beautiful ride through the mountains and the last stretch was along the Puget Sound as the sun was setting. We arrived in Seattle over an hour behind schedule but we made it.
We spent day number eleven of our trip exploring the city. The first stop on our schedule was the Pike Place Market, we made it there early enough to beat the crowds and were able to have a good view of the fish toss.

At pike place we also went through the gum wall alley. The walls were recently cleaned off for the first time after 20 years. I was surprised by how much gum there was since it was just cleaned off in November.
Our next stop was the Space Needle, it is a 605 foot aircraft warning beacon, with a 360 degree view observation deck and a revolving restaurant. The space Needle was designed by architects Edward Carlson, Victor Steinbrueck, and John Graham jr.
Directly beside the space needle is the experience music project which is designed by architect Frank Gehry. The exterior of the building seems to be a fusion of multiple undulating buildings that vary in colors from silver, pink, blue, red and gold. The seattle monorail travels in between the building which creates a split among these sections on the exterior. Although on the interior these different elements begin to fuse together.
On our way back to the station we stopped by the Seattle Public Library which was design by Rem Koolhaas and Joshua Prince-Ramus. Unlike the typical library you step foot with ambiguous flexibility, this library is designed to have specific programmatic spaces. Flexibility is still possible it is just tailored to each individual compartment.
After a fast but wonderful stop in Seattle we are headed to our final city.
